Today we lunched with guests...it was a table of "K"s and "C"s; always a good omen in my book.
Our lunch spot was the newest restaurant in town - Loco Grinz, a hawaiian bbq joint. I had the Korean BBQ chicken with sticky rice and sweet corn as my sides. Delicious. Though I do feel that I could have opened the can of corn myself.
However, it turns out that I did not choose wisely in the sides. Apparently the macaroni salad is spectacular and the veggies are incredible. Our wise little mama-to-be quipped that she only got them "to be good", but then found them to actually "TASTE good" as well and were "not mushy or greasy". I'd say that there is a high recommendation, folks.
Tears were shed over that humble meal in response to some confusion of Kelley's (of the Alan variety) cock with his caulk. Oh, these vet types and their homophones and animals.

Aaaaaannd We're Back!
So, I'm pretty sure that no one reads this except myself and the good Dr. Coopa.
However, I find us insightful, hilarious and delicious in most cases. Therefore, I will write for myself and for the love of lunching.
Where have I been I ask? I have been writing/rewriting/editing/and stressing over my PhD research proposal and then undergoing the gauntlet that is committee meetings and preliminary exams. All the fretting, cursing and occasionally sad lonely drinking paid off with me passing and now being an official PhD candidate. Throughout all of this, our lunches kept me relatively sane, and well fed!
Complaining is always better when done over a burger salad at Dupus Boomers. If you're going to be nearly in tears from stress, it may as well involve fire roasted tomato soup at Swilly's. And of course, when things are going well, gloating goes best with freakishly large burritos at Patty's Kitchen.
Tomorrow we start a new era in lunches. Guests! people other then us. will. be. eating. lunch. with. us. It will be paradigm altering to say the least. I'm already looking forward to the amazing response we'll surely get... us giggling.
